Recap–My First Wedding Shoot continued

When I was first going through my photos after the wedding I was so excited with the moments that I had captured for Mizza and Jose.  Then came the hard part, hours – and I mean hours – of editing.  Probably too many hours, but I’m still learning and will get things done quicker as I get more practice. I love editing, and in addition to getting every photo of a quality that I was happy with, I took some creative liberties to add a little unique artistic flare.  These are a few of my favorites.

Lunar Eclipse

Last week on the morning of April 15, I set my alarm for 2:00AM to get up and watch the Total Lunar Eclipse.  As hard as it was to get out of bed in the middle of the night, it was definitely worth it to get to see something so unique.  In case you missed it, here is a composite of a few of the photos I took.  It doesn’t really do the event justice, but I was pretty happy with what I ended up with. I can’t wait until the next one to use what I learned from this to capture better images!

Try Something Different

I haven’t been posting as often as I would like recently, but hopefully that will change soon!  I’ve been on a modified “light duty” schedule at work because of an injury.  Strangely enough, light duty has me on my feet much longer than my normal workday. (It is much less strenuous work, however)  As much as my body appreciates the break, I have a lot less down time to work on sorting and editing my photos.

After the repetitive mindless tasks I do all day now for my light duty, I get home and can’t sleep.  The creative part of my mind starts racing after keeping quiet all day.  So last night I decided to begin work on a new post.  I was brainstorming a colors of fall post with some recent photos, but got distracted as seems to happen quite frequently.  It’s not that I can’t focus – just that I like to focus on so many things!  I don’t mind, as the distractions usually lead me some place interesting.  The thing that lead me astray this time was a post on Pinterest about a home photography project by Steve Hermitage.  Please check his work out if you get a chance!

I read the article a few weeks ago, and it’s been on my mind ever since.  Finally last night I crouched down in front of my computer with an empty wine glass and gave it a shot:

Definitely unlike any photographs I’ve taken in the past, but I’m really happy with the results. So – try something different, you never know what you’ll find.  I’ll definitely be trying this again with different backgrounds and maybe various clear glass objects.  Stay tuned for more!  Oh, and that colors of fall post will be here soon.  Unless I get distracted again, which I can’t promise won’t happen…

More Magic Kingdom!

I had a lot more photos from my recent trip to Magic Kingdom, so thought I would share a few others.  I love how playing around with color creates interest in photographs, and can draw or take away attention from certain details.  Editing with color and saturation can make a photo much more interesting!

This pink flower caught my attention, I thought the castle made a nice backdrop.

I think this one below is my favorite.

But then again, the castle really is beautiful all on it’s own.

Donald thinks so too :)

Oh Oh It’s Magic - Kingdom

An afternoon in the Magic Kingdom always provides lots of photo opportunities.  This post is all about reflections.  Before even entering the park, I noticed a reflection of the “Let the Memories Begin” slogan in sunglasses.  Good thing I caught it, as things are changing and the the new theme is “Show Your Disney Side.”

The castle is always beautiful.

If it looks a little strange to you, maybe this one below will clear things up a little.

Now here’s the bigger picture. I always like to look at the bigger picture, even if I’m focusing on smaller details.  I think it’s good to take everything in, to get a better idea of what you’re looking at.

And this is just me having a little fun with photo shop.
